Question EUB on a stand : what setup ?

I have seen many EUB players using their instrument straight right, just tilted on the back. On my WAV4, I did not find this position very comfortable for jazz pizzicato, especially for accessing the E string.

I examined the position the traditional UB players use and, for some of them, the bass is rotated to the right and tilted towards them, in order to have the body laying on their chest. I tried this orientation and it seems easier for having a UB-like right hand position (stroking the strings using the side of the fingers).

And you, what setup/orientation do you use when playing ?

I play seated on a drummer's throne, the bass tilted to rest on my left thigh, the left foot on a guitarist's footrest.
My EUB doesn't have a playing stand, just a display one.

If memory serves me right, I mounted the WAV4 straight up initially, but soon adjusted the tripod stand to tilt the instrument towards me. You should try to find a position that is most natural to you - it could go either way.

There are many possibilities! What I found most instructive in this regard was getting a lesson whilst using a (borrowed) real DB, figuring out how that works, then applying that to the position of the EUB.

Having played EB for my whole carer (40+ years) I also was unsure about positioning on my WAV 4. I set it pretty straight atf irst, but after I had a dedicated URB player try it, I left the stand as he set it -- tilted back two or three notches (maybe 30 degrees from vertical) and turned a bit toward me. This proved to be much more comfortable
