Fairly Cheap, Entry EUB?

Hi there, I'm looking to start playing upright, but do not have the space nor the transport for a fullsize.

Therefore I'd like to get an EUB, but I'm having trouble finding one from a retailer for fairly cheap, being a student I can't afford anything over £1000.

There are cheap ones on ebay selling from Germany, but I don't want to trust anything like that really, unless I know they are good.

Any tips, advice?

Much appreciated.

Hi.
I suggest you read the megathreads about the Ergo and the Palatino EUBs.
Both threads are visible on the forum summary.

Nice day,
François

There's a nice looking Aria that should fit in your budget - I think it's called the Lite-One. Hard to find here in Oz, but Aria seem to be better distributed in the UK.
The Palatino I tried would have needed new strings, bridge & pickup to make it useable, plus I would have eventually replaced the preamp - makes it less cost-effective compared to something that works well out of the box.

I'm in a very similar situation to yourself with respect to transport arrangements! Quite a few folks here have bought the WAV 4 from Steinberger - I've just placed an order for one myself, once it arrives and I've played it a bit I'd be happy to tell you how it is working out. I ordered mine for about 660 pounds from Thomann in Germany.

There is a thread kicking about in this forum about it.

I'm not sure if they're any good or not, but Dean makes one for about $700 US.
