Fingering on EUB

I'm still working out some kind of fingering system on my Azola Acoustic Baby Bass. In the lower positions I use standard fingering. I find I can use bass guitar fingering from about the 7th pos up, but in the upper register I'm flummoxed, as I don't use thumb position. My thumb tends to find a home underneath the fingerboard, which I assume can't be good, as I lose leverage. Any suggestions or resources?

Uh, just learn thumb position. It is really nice once you get it.
