How do you make a whamola?

Recently i watched Les Claypool and his Frog Brigade play a song called 'Whamola' on their DVD 5 gallons of Diesel. I saw this dodgy single string bass that looked like an EUB so i researched it. I really want one but they are so rare and cost loads. Anyone got an idea how to make/get a cheap a decent whamola?

I recently aquired a free johnson acoustic 4-string that is pretty beat up, and i wanted to turn it into a "handheld" wamolah.
