Some were NS design, 4 and 5 string, others I don't know the name, but one seemed to be about 3/4 of the scale of the NS designs, almost half way between a electric upright and an electric bass. I realy liked it. It was about 1600.00$. This is way too much for me, as I play mostly 70's rock and modern rock with a bit of heavy metal. I would still like to own one of these babies, for fun at first, but you never know, I just might fall in love with these. Can anybody recomment a seriously inexpensive piece like the NS scale or the smaller scale I tried????
Thanks all

I'm always sort of looking out for them, too, but, unfortunately, this sounds like a get-what-you-pay-for situation.
- There's the Palatino EUB. < $700.
You'll find good and bad written about it.
- Goldtone EUB. < $1000.
You'll find good and bad written about it.
After that, the prices really start to take off.
I'd love to see a $600 EUB that actually sounds like an upright and doesn't stink. I'm sure many would say I'm dreaming.

I could not be happier with mine. |

The short one was a bass cello. It was not 1600$ but 4200$ unless it was somewhere else.
The azola gypsy bass would be around 1600 and it look great.
I'm looking for one also. http://www.azola.com/sys-tmpl/gypsybass/

I did try the NS at Archambault, but the shorter scale was at Steve's. Thanks for all the input. If you have other ideas, don't hesitate.

If you're in Montreal, Diplomate music has the Aria line. For details on Aria Palatino vs. Aria SWB Lite One

It's a small place. A guitar player friend of mine goes there for all is guitar/pedals/amps questions. He says the tech is good... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
