My EUB

I made my own EUB over the winter and I thought I would post a picture of it. I've made a few electric basses, this EUB I made as a prototype. Here's the details:
34" scale length, uses super long electric bass strings
Fits into a regular bass gig bag
All fittings are metal/metal
Comes a part in seconds w/1 allen key
Adjustable DB style bridge
Super light weight
Quatersawn maple neck, Imbuia body, red cedar top/back. FB, bridge and tail piece all made from dyamondwood.
I used a K&K DB piezo PU.
Overall it has a nice acoustic bass type tone. W/a little tweaking it could be made even better.

Hi, I believe you have yourself a pretty good design. I wonder if, on your next effort, it would be worth the effort to try a slightly bigger body,and maybe a 36'' scale (or would that still allow ex long electric bass strings?). I really like the soundhole design. Good luck!

thanks for the response. there are many options to try w/this EUB design: the shape and size of the sound hole hole, thickness of the body, pickup design and placement, various strings etc. the list goes on.
I went w/the 34" scale because I am learning to play fretless electric and I wanted to stay within a familiar scale length. I commute by bike so I need a very portable design which this is. I am working on rigging up a bike trailer to haul bass, amp and gear.

Whe you post, you need to be in advanced view (click on the Go Advanced button if not).
At the bottom, there's an "Additional options" frame.
Click on the "Manage attachments" button, etc.

Or you can upload it on a public server somewhere and post the link here.

Here is a audio sample. I went directly into my Powerbook/Garageband. I used a K&K preamp w/a little bass boast that's it. The tune I played is "Sugar". I'm a beginner what can I say. After listening to this I hear how bright the instrument is. I used basic flatwound strings, perhaps some other strings might soften the sound a little
