Hi Fabian,

Not done much more on this one .
I just set this up roughly leaving the string heights higher than I usually like them ,I was going to fine tune it later ... but im actually getting used to them now and just enjoying playing around with it.

That said, i have started on another
It will have a maple neck and lighter body woods.
38" scale length.
I wanted a light colored FB for this so have planed one from some Goncalo Alves.
I think i like it...

Jack Thats some beautifull EUB, I am still working on mine, I've being working on my pegbox, it was going perfect until I made couple litle mistakes, I will show it to you to see what u thing about it.....
now I have to ask you, what finish u are using in ur Beauty?

You may me correct, they just dont look like steel wound but i only have BG strings to compare them with.

They are an unbranded set so i have no idea of their make up other than steel cores. I have tested with a magnet and there doesnt appear to be any more 'pull' when you compare the magnetic response from the core to the outer winding which makes me think they may be nickel or some other cheap alloy.
(They did not cost much compared with what more serious players would pay!)

I have a broken one somewhere so i will strip off some winding and test with a magnet.

My 'old' EUB I built for myself and is 41.5 inch scale (3/4).



I was just wondering what strings are good for magnetic pickups as i would like to put a better set on the new bass.

Strings have such a big influence on sound and feel, you could probably fill a complete forum on this subject alone.

I finish my basses with Nitro-Cellulose.

Oh i stain the mahogany with some spirit based wood stain first, walnut color on this one.

Me I have being busy in other pojects, I moved to Atlanta Ga and my EUB got forgoten... but now I'm back on Biz

so Stain with spirit based wood stain... and Nitro-Cellulose... I will check how is done... the Finish is outstanding....
