New Strings for New EUB

Got my Ergo 4-string. Sounds good, except the E string is a little quiet and the A string is a little quieter than that. I think it's the strings. Any suggestions on strings? I'm not too worried about cost. You can even suggest custom sets (ie: get an E from such and such, an A and G from such and such and a D from such and such) as long as you can buy the particular strings suggested as single strings cause I'm not buying 4 sets just to use 1 string from each set, but I will buy 4 single strings.

You didn't indicate what type of strings are on there now, so we're not sure what to compare it to. I don't know what type of strings come factory installed on the Ergo.

I've got an NS CRM-4 electric upright, and the factory strings were lousy, so I replaced them with Spirocore Weichs, based on the recommendation of others here on TB. I like them a lot. The E and A are particularly strong. However, that may be as much the instrument as the strings. I haven't played an Ergo, so I'm not sure about the differences in the two instruments.

Weichs are good too. Very similar in Gauge and tension to the correlis. They felt a bit twangy to me, though, for my EUB.

It's the strings that came on the Ergo. I emailed Jesse and he said that they're some no-name chinese strings.

The problem with strings is that everyone's taste and needs is different, and our own opinions of what sounds and feels good too.
What are you looking for exactly?
Long sustain or short thump?
Dark tone or bright?
Fretless mwahhh or gut-like tone?
A bowable string or just pizz work?
Some strings with synthetic core, have a short lifespan, like Obligatos, Dominants, so would you prefer steels only?

There's no magic answer, and you may end up with a full drawer of unused strings, like many of us!

Regards,
François
