newbie: what to check when goinig used?

hi! im an electric bass player that want to enter the upright world.

i saw a clasiffied today for a baby bass copy made by a local luthier (im in uruguay so thats the only choice i have)

it had a piezo mic and a di marzio magnetic, each with a different out put. seemed comfortable and sounded pretty good. (the amp was a crap peavey so that disguised the sound a little)

what should i take in consideration before buying it?

thancks!

Can you get a URB player to check it for playability?
It's easy enough to change pickups & setup if the basic structure & geometry of the instrument is OK.
