NS CR4M + backline 600 + 2x10 and 1x15 = joy!

Just thought I would share the current state of my evolving budget amplification that seems to be pleasing me quite a bit.

I already had the GK Backline 600 and the Marshall Jubilee 15" cabinet. I had been hunting for a 2x10, and was admittedly influenced by price quite a bit. Been buying a lot of equipment the past 3-4 months. I found a Genz Benz 210 STD at our local Austin bass shop for a very affordable price.

So, I set contour almost all the way up, set the EQ to flat, and boost to 3-4. Set the CR4M (strung with NS-branded helicore hybrids) to 80% piezo, and the piezo to 80% pizz, EQ flat. The countour on the Genz is set to 3, but I have not played with that yet. I couldn't get this sound out of the 15" alone, and I don't think I can get it with the 2x10 alone either. Playing low notes on the E string is deep and defined. The added arco pizz seems to add just a little bit of nice thumpy finger/string noise. I know it doesn't sound like a real upright, but it has just enough of the psychological cues to appeal to me in the same way. Also, I don't know if this sound will cut through well in a band. But for now this sound is rocking my boat, and encouraging me to practice even more.

Using the same settings with arco is good as well, but I am still working on developing that sound from all sides. Regarding portability, well... that is why I bought my own hand truck. (:

The next step (there is always a next step! gas does not heal.) will be to get a 4u rack for the GK, perhaps an FMR RNC, and a rack mounted tuner, etc.

Cool setup and nice EUB.

Thanks for taking the time to share your results. I'll keep this in mind when making some changes to my current rigs for the CR4M.
