Palatino Makes a big splash

This is the first weekend I have been home all summer (Ohio) and I have been read reading and staying in all day accept for getting the new tandem bike ready for nexts season's festivals. I'm suprised that the Palatino mega thead has lasted since Janurary 2 2006 when I started it. Is is the biggest thread I have found. No big deal but, my tought is the Palatino is a great bass for the Buck" especially for those of who don't have the money or just don't want to spend it until we see what we really want. I could buy more expensive stuff and though about doing so after I got the Palatino.... but why waste the money when it gives me every thing I need in an electric upright? After almost a year with this bass I think it's the only one I will ever have. It really delievers the sound. Happy playing!

in the end, if it "does the job", that's all the matters.

It's like this...I own congas...I have two Latin Percussion conga sets...they're professional and great sounding to play with ANY combo I play with...and yet...i'm sure that if I really want to be a purist about it, I could have a custom-maker make me some congas, or go to JCR (Cali Rivera) and ask him to build me one of his very rare congas (reputed to be among the best in the business). Why would I pay a lot of money for JCR to make me custom-made congas...when my cheaper LPs do the job just fine, with not a lot of noticeable difference in quality.

If the Palatino plays good enough that the sound is great and people in the audience love it, and you love it, stay with it.

If your Honda Accord runs just as well as the Acura Integra...why change...unless you really want to waste a lot of money on the bells and whistles? If you're wealthy, go with an Eminence or a custom made acoustic bass...but for the rest of us, Palatino is really good.
