Small Amp for URB

Ok, I just got a Yamha SB-100 bass. Now I need an AMP. I have seen and heard a Crate taxi series,BX30be I think. I like the idea of the rechargeable battery. What else is out there.

However, I am totally new to EUB's and DD bass in general. So I am looking for some thing that will allow me to get the sound of an accoustic carved bass. Currently playing Bluegrass, basically I V. I would like to get into classic jazz bass, Autum Leaves, Minor Swing, Nuages, Lady Be Good ect.

Ya I have a lot to learn. but you got to start some where. All help appreciated.

Bass Tools: German Accoustic carved back and top, SB-100

OK Dr...all will beome clear when you check out the "Amps/Pick-ups" section of TB. Some brands to look at would be 'Acoustic Image' 'Eden' 'G-K' , 'Phil Jones', etc.
good luck,

gomez

Small amp

I've just started using a Phil Jones Briefcase amp with my NS Design CR4 electric upright. I was looking for something small for 'acoustic' gigs, to give me some stage sound but to be DI'd to the PA for the main sound. I bought it online from the Bass Centre in London on the strength of the reviews I'd read about it. Those reviews proved to be absolutely right. It does exactly what I want DI'd but also works brilliantly as a standalone amp as well. Amazing piece of gear - don't be fooled by those 5 inch speakers, they really deliver. It can be fitted with a rechargeable battery but I have no need to do that at the moment so can't comment on that aspect. Also works fine with 5 string bass guitar.

Well first off, the only thing that will sound like an Acoustic Carved Bass is....A Carved Acoustic Upright Bass!!!
But as far as amplification goes, I really love the AI Conta Combo that I am using right now. It puts out an AMAZING amount of sound for its size.
