UK made Moondog EUB

A little quirky perhaps, but I've come across an EUB made in the UK called the Moondog Electro Acoustic Upright, at an amazing price of £495! I have no idea if it's any good, but I've request further images of the bass to give it a good looking over (so to speak). A Palatino beater perhaps?

Moondog

Anyone played or own one of these?

Moondog / Sojing

It looks like a takeoff of the Sojing. I tried to find the Sojing on eBay to show you the link from where I bought mine, but it isn't showing the usual ad at a standard price of around $600, but I did find this one Sojing that is the same thing at an exceptional starting price. Of course it's only on day 1 of a 9 day auction.

BTW, mine came with the action rather high that I had to take down to an acceptable playing level but other than that, it plays great with a very versatile tone. Here's a pic of me with it. I'm 6'4" so this gives you an idea of the size of the bass.

Maybe it's a licensed designed? The Palatino has many different names but a similar designs. This could be something similar?

It's a rebadged OEM product.

I think you're right, but it almost looks like they have sanded down the entire face as the edge seems to still have the same brown acrylic coating as the original.

There are many factories that make musical instruments or musical gear. You could order what ever minimum they require and put your name on it, and you could probably specify tweaks, mods or whatever - production processes permitting (e.g. using different pickups or bridges or whatever) and they would make it for you; in the same way Eminence would make you a speaker if you ordered a minimum quantity.

Hence the proliferation of cheap condenser mics (made in the beijing 797 factory), Brice, SX, 7 string basses for $300, infinite name variations on the Palatino etc etc etc etc
