Van Zalinge Z Bass

Hi Everyone
I've been visiting a fair bit, but I'm a relative newbie here.
I thought that I'd post some images of my Van Zalinge Z bass (originally purchased as an ex demo model from the BUCA bv showroom in Bussum in 1986).
It's one of the production models (rather than one of the dozen or so instruments hand crafted by Henk Van Zalinge), but lovely quality.
It's fairly basic - simple jack socket, plug and play with a Z transducer (Polytone type).
Still my darling after all these years - wouldn't consider selling her.
Does anybody else on the Forum have one to share?

Great!!!

Thanks for sharing them!

I'm sure there's some TBers who have Z basses too...

Although I'm not an Upright Bass player, but This is the EUB that always on my mind since first time I saw Sting play it with The Police.

Thanks

Wow, I have to be honest. I've not seen one of these before, but it's really cool. Any info online about the history?

Thanks Nate, not much on line history, but I do have a 6-page gatefold ad from the former company that has details. I'll get around to scanning it and posting it here.
Cheers
Ian

I used to have a Van Zalinge about 10 years ago. Bought it from the old Bass Centre when it was still in Wapping. Loved that bass and used it occasionally for a couple of years but eventually had to sell it to raise funds for my main acoustic bass (which I still play today).
They are great instruments and I wish i could've kept hold of mine! Was sold by Martin at The Gallery in Camden to a friend of his who'd been looking for one. It's the only instrument I've regretted selling...

I do!
I rented a room in Florida one winter 1990 or so. I went to putting my clothes up in the closet and there she was all bagged up. The landlady was a singer who had a bass player boyfriend who left the bass with her for some back debt. Needless to say in a few seconds a deal was struck and I still have her. More worn than yours and slightly different finish/woods and details. Still wonderful to play. Will post pics when I get a chance.
