Weird NS upright...

Yes, a topic about the Steinberger again...
It's about the NS CR4m.
On the NedS. Homepage this bass is pictured with 4 potentiometers and one switcher for the pickups.
But the model at my local dealer has five potentionmeters and NO pickup switcher. What does that mean?

It looks like:

Is this an older series? I'm a bit scared of buying now...

Thx!
But why do some have five potentiometers and others only four?
On the NS homepage the instruments have only four...

Can somebody explain me that?

5 vs. 4 knobs

I think the newer one's have the 5 knobs.

Some are made in the USA and some in the Czech
Republic

Yes,

probably you're right. I asked my dealer and he also told me, that these are the newer models. I hop that this is true.

Well....
Seeing that they've eliminated the Arco/Arco+Pizz/Pizz switch, I'll have to assume (not neccesarily in order):
1. Volume.
2. Blend between Magnetics and Piezos.
3. Blend between Arco and Pizz Piezos.
4. Treble +/-.
5. Bass +/-.

or......

1. Volume Magnetics.
2. Volume Piezos.
3. Blend between Arco and Pizz Piezos.
4. Treble +/-.
5. Bass +/-.

Either of these would make sense to how my old NSCR4M was set up with the three way switch.

I think your first suggestion is right.
When i played the instrument the first knob was the master volume...

Yep, that's the right order. I've got that instrument also.

Yeah, I think mine is the older one too. I got 4 knobs and the selector switch for pizz/blend/arco modes.

I suppose this is actually an improvement on the newer models - as it would always be more desirable to be able to have a blend - more flexibility, more possibilities - rather than just : on or off ?
