Very interesting. Especially interesting on the product page, below, is an interview with the project director of the Silent Bass line. He speaks frankly about the shortcomings of the earlier designs, and discusses how they're addressing them. Click on the link, and then "Development Story".
What say you? New hope for the notoriously problematic Silent Basses? SLB-200LTD - Silent Basses - Strings - Musical Instruments - Products - Yamaha United States | Did anyone try it yet? what are the opinions?
what is the exact scale length of this bass (from nut to bridge)? |

| | | | Not many Silent bass users here I guess. I am curious about the exact scale length. So if someone can measure it for me. |

Sorry to say the recordings I have are of mediocre fidelity, but I can state that imho, the FC is a huge improvement over the stock electronics.
There are a few videos with the combination you asked about on this page - Max Murray:Videos
unfortunately the format where the bass is most isolated (w/singer & pianist near the bottom of the page) the audio pops on some note attacks because the input gain was set too high... but you might be able to get an idea.
also - on this page Max Murray:Recordings, the 2nd & 3rd CDs I used the SLB200 w/FC (except for the trax that are obviously 5-string EB)
It won't transform the SLB into a dead ringer for a good upright, but for traveling and high volume situations it is a sweet axe.

I've check leads, batteries, amps and it's definitely something inside the bass. Anyone had a similar problem and can shed some light?
Thanks in advance |

Thanks in advance | Not sure how i fixed this but its ok now, i opened the housing for the volume treble and bass pots and nothing seemed loose however when placing it back in it touched the metal housing which seems to off stopped the buzzing for some reason. |

He pulled on several black socks that he cut off onto the piece and it felt very secure and trouble-free. I thought it had some padding in there but he just had several pairs on top of one another. Also saw Kristin Korb with one this weekend, sounded good.

My 20 min impression: it sounds and feels a lot better than I expected. I'm hoping to get a few hours in on it over the next few days, and I should have a better opinion/impression.

I like it. It's not the same as my Cleveland, but it feels good. I'm still getting to know it, but I think I'll learn to enjoy it. The sound doesn't seem like it should be coming from such a portable package.
Plays easily, breaks down into a tiny package, and sounds like the real thing (or close enough).

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Jun 2002 Location: Originally from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, now living in Hong Kong | | | Great bass I am soon finishing a 150 concerts tour with Chinese singer Jacky Cheung where I play a Modulus Quantum 5 and the Yamaha SLB200, both plugged in a Radial Bassbone where I slightly boost the bass and cuts mid and treble on the Yamaha.
At one point, I had to change the peg nut with a standard drum accessorie butterfly screw and retreading the socket for it.
Another time, while moving the bass from under the transforming stage, one of the crew forgot to light the bass age and I tripped falling on the bass injuring brining a rib and the hip rest. I was able to go to my main playing spot right away and play within 2 minutes, retuning the bass and finishing the show like that. I used duck tape until a new rest arrived.
The bass has never failed me and played and sounded better and better as time went. Most of those shows where in stadiums in China for crowds of up to 50000, many in the winter and the coldest was 1C with rain and some fell on the bass but no problem, it kept going strong.
I will keep playing that bass on tour using the modified golf case. One another solution would be a keyboard case if mine breaks one day.
I hope that my testimony helps.
