$150 mystery P Bass Black/Rosewood/Tort

Sign in to disble this ad
hey folks, picked up a nice P Bass locally a while back, and while it was sold to me as a Squier, I'm not sure what it is. It had a sharpie markered black headstock and scotchbrite dulled paint on the body when I bought it, but it played really nice so I picked it up. I went through it, cleaned off the headstock to reveal......nothing. The original logo is long gone. I also wetsanded and polished the body back to a nice shiny finish. One thing i like is the poly finish is really thin on this one, not the thick plastic coating you find on todays Fenders. The only identifying marks on here are- in the neck cavity and on the heel of the neck it says "JUN98" (June 98 I guess...) and on the back of the pickguard it has a "made in japan" sticker.
Now, it's really a sweet player. Satiny smooth neck, beautiful body. So if any of you are looking for a nice player for short money right before x-mas, here's your bass. $150 shipped w/ a gig bag CONUS, paypal, and it's yours!! If it doesn't sell relatively quick, I'll probably tear it apart and start a frankenbass project I've wanted to do for some time.

Questions?? Ask away. She's not perfect in any way, but fully functional with lots of surprisingly nice parts (body/tuners/neck finish..etc) Play it as is, upgrade stuff, or use it as a starter for a project bass.

thanks y'all. happy holidays....

neck

It is...it plays really nicely though, so I didn't touch the truss rod to try to straighten the neck out any. My feeling was, if I end up keeping the bass, I'm going to use a maple neck on it, so I didn't want to start messing with this one.

Weight

I'll check that for you tonight.... I forgot to state in the ad, it weighs in right at about 8.5 lbs. I don't remember it feeling neck heavy, but I'll get back to you on it.

Every squire bass I have had has been neck heavy. So if it has good balance chances are it isn't a squire. The thickness of the body will be different also.
