August 2002 dating Ray. The neck appears to be worn down on the back, it's super smooth and plays very quickly. Speaking of playing quickly, the action is very low without buzzing, freakishly low for a five string bass. It has new DR Lo-Rider Nickel 45-125's on it. There is some corrosion on the pole pieces, I used some 0000 gauge steel wool which helped a little but you'll need something a little stronger if you want it gone. There is wear on the side by the input jack and a the end of the headstock facing out, also a couple nicks on the front at the top contour. Aside from that, pretty nice. One hairline crack extending outwards from the bottom knob towards the bridge that reaches the end of the pickguard, it's an inch up from the screw and it has no more journeying to do, I doubt I could photograph it. The frets are like new, no divots, just polished, no issues throughout the neck. The truss can move in either direction but a couple of the saddle screws take a bit of an angle to get an allen wrench to move them (what appears to be a common problem with Musicman instruments). The fretboard is darkened but is entirely clean, I scrubbed with light steel wool and used lemon oil to treat it afterward. Two of the tuner leaves had super glue applied to stop sympathetic vibrations. The neck looks much lighter on the back toward the headstock than it really is due to flash accenting a change in grain pattern. Lastly, one tuner screw is a newer, shinier replacement and has two washers under it instead of one (slightly longer screw).
Beautiful bass, not a collector's item but still stunning to look at and has no issues with playing or electronics.
