***RARE!!!*** VINTAGE AMPEG BIG STUD BASS!

This is a super cool Ampeg Big stud bass. Perfect working condition, and great cosmetic condition.

Has a few dings in the finish, but nothing major.

Action is set up super low, neck and frets are perfect.

These play great, and aren't a lot of them made. Strung with flats, old school funk vibe.

Comes with OHSC.

Selling for $800 $750 $700 Shipped

I had the guitar version of that bass, the Heavy Stud! These guitars and basses were built like friggin' tanks! If you would drive over them with your car....it would break your car! Free Bump for a cool bass!

What's the scale length and is there a case?
Also, the inevitable - trades?

How about that scale length? Also, is there another cover that goes over the smaller pickup? I've seen some with and some without.

There is no cover for the smaller pick up.

Scale length is right around 33.50"

In the 70s...not sure of the exact time frame though. They were only made for a few years, and are very rare. There wasn't over 1 thousand made, possible even half that number.

What would you compare it to? P bass, Ric, Jazz bass?

Looks pretty cool.

It has elements of all those basses. Ampeg just took ideas from some of the popular basses of the time, and combined them. It's strung with flats, and has a wider neck, so would compare closer to a P Bass, if I had to pick one of the three.
