Up for sale is my ’97 G&L L-2000 with a G&L #6 Jazz neck. I love this bass and I’ve had it for approx. 9 months now. Since getting it, my bass tone/needs have changed and the only reason I’m selling it is to fund a Roscoe 5 stringer. I bought it from Bass NW and I think their description sums it up best:
“Here is an excellent sounding and playing used 4 string bass. The one is a custom ordered U.S. handbuilt G&L L-2000 4 string model that features a highly resonant Ash body with a gorgeous 3-Tone Sunburst high gloss finish. The optional G&L #6 "J" style bolt-on Maple neck has a Rosewood fingerboard with a sleek fast feel. The pickups are the G&L passive "Humbucking" type and they are run through an active 2-band eq. system. There is a series/parallel switch for the pickups and a mode switch that allows for active/passive operation. This bass is in great condition and comes with the original hardcase.”
I’ve heard the L-2000 being called the “Swiss army knife” of the bass world, and it’s true. So many tonal options can be achieved with the controls, that’s the reason I bought it in the first place. I’ve always like having a Fender type of bass in my collection and this one covered all the Fender tones for me, Precision, Jazz and even a Stingray to some degree. There is some player wear on the body and only one small ding by the ¼” input. I will get another L-2000 in the future and if I’m lucky I’ll get a chance to buy this one back. So up for sale she goes, I’m asking $850 shipped or best offer.
I'd be happy to answer any questions and thanks for looking!

Yes, it's the original neck, not a replacement.
#6 neck - 7.5" radius, 1-1/2" nut
Hope this helps. |

This is a real stunner, won't last long at this price. |

I'll weigh it when I get home later today.
Yeah, it's stunner alright! Like most bass pics, the pictures really don't seem to do it justice though. The colors fade into one another more gradually when viewed in person. In these pics the three tone burst seems a little more abrupt and separated. Also I find the pics really don't bring out the nice grain quality on the ash body.

I might consider a Zon or Modulus 5 stringer. |

Still available? Well.... I put up both of my four stringers to fund another purchase. One of them sold and I still have the G&L. It would be really tough to let this one go. I know I probably never find another one just like it. Yeah, it feels and sounds that good! That's why I haven't been bumping it up in the last couple of weeks. So I'm a bit undecided at the moment.

Thanks for the kind words and bump.
Hope to do business with you again some day! |
