Now with free Wenge & Ovangkol pen!
Feeler: Up for sale is my ’97 Warwick Thumb 5 B.O. Slim Wenge neck and Wenge fretboard, bookmatched solid figured Ovangkol body. This has to be the most comfortable Warwick neck I’ve ever played. This one has the Wenge slim profile neck, before they switched to the thicker, beefier Ovangkol necks around ’98. The neck is flat with the very slightest of relief and the frets are in very good shape. Bridge spacing is adjustable and I have it set at a comfortable 17.5mm, could probably widen up to 18mm. Has the adjust-a-nut all brass nut.
Overall, for a nearly 14 year old bass, she’s in great shape. No major dings/scratches and very light player wear. The straplock buttons were moved and helped out a ton with the neck dive, very comfortable now. The only issue is the bass tone knob is a bit stiffer feeling than the treble knob. No noise/static in the electronics or knobs/pots. All original MEC pickups and pre gives it the classic Warwick “growl”. Also, when you pull up on the volume knob, the bass goes into passive mode. A nice feature to have if you’re on a gig and the battery decides to die. There are not too many slim all Wenge neck Thumbs in this shape around, so I’m asking $1,150 $1050 OBO with case shipped and fully insured.
I’ll be happy to answer any questions.
Will try to post more pics tonight or tomorrow.
-Thanks!

| | | | I've got a '98 just like this but with the piezo bridge. I love that bass and will hopefully never have to part with it. These basses are incredible sounding and feeling!
Just out of curiosity, what case did you find to fit this? I've been looking (not too intently) for a hard case for mine.
Bump for a great instrument! |

Bump for a great instrument! | The case is a Kaces III Bass case. A really nice case in very good shape. Shoulder straps can be tucked away into the back pocket.

I had the day off of work, so I decided to get back into the woodshop and make a pen from Wenge and Ovangkol to match the bass. 100% hand made by me on my lathe, except for the hardware. It was sanded to 12,000 grit, yes 12k, a hand rubbed oil finish was applied, then followed by a coat of wax, just like Warwick does. I thought I would include this in the sale, for free! Some lucky person will have a great bass for recording and gigs. And now, a matching pen for signing all those autographs and royalty checks!
