'01 PRS bass 4-string, flame top, birds, all papers

FS: 2001 Paul Reed Smith 4-string bass. Alder body with flame maple top, cherry sunburst, bolt on maple neck, rosewood fingerboard with PRS bird in flight inlays, 2 PRS Jazz style pick ups with vol-vol-tone + 18-volt boost pre-amp. All hang tags, tools, and paperwork including warranty card and unregistered warranty sticker. The bass ships in its original hard shell case. The neck feels like a thinner, and slightly skinnier p-bass (1.625" @ the nut) and the amplified tone is like a Jazz on steroids. In passive mode the bass has a jazz-like tone with a cleaner growl than a fender. In active mode the boost control takes the very good passive tone adds a a top end sparkle and a low end boost that's very musical and usable and makes the bass cut through a mix like a hot knife through butter. It's like cranking the Aural Enhance control on an Eden head and adding heat. It's pretty light, 8.5 lbs on the bathroom scale. The bass has a fresh set up and is dialed in for medium-low action. The bass is in excellent condition minus one little finish flub just below the controls (see pics). Besides that the bass is nearly unplayed.

I bought this after spending years ogling at PRS guitars that crossed my bench. The build quality is just as good as the guitars, and if this were a 5-string I'd probably keep it.

I'm looking to get $1425 shipped in the lower 48. No trades unless you have the mysterious fanned fret Acacia 5-string with a burled maple top I've been looking for for a decade, or a Status graphite necked 5er.

1 5/8" @ the nut (just like a vintage fender B neck, right between and P and J in terms of width), and 10" radius.

I had one almost identical and mine played beautifully, was perfectly balanced and sonically incredibly versatile. PRS basses don't get a lot of love but I'd put this model up against a Sadowsky or any other boutique Jazz. If I had the money or the need for another bass I'd be on this without hesitation. Definitely one of the few I really wish I'd kept.

I'd have to agree. Once you get past the fact that this doesn't look like a jazz bass the tone is right there, and surpasses several other high end jazz inspired basses. But I am a bit biased.
