SOLD! SOLD! SOLD! Rare 1 of 30 Lakland Dude Pit II (DPLEII) Limited Edition 2006 Click here for a huge 70MB high resolution photo collection.
White body and matching headstock, jazz style neck with sexy blocks and binding, Darkstar pickup, tort pickguard.
Near mint / factory condition with the exception of some minor headstock dings, one un-photographable ding near the strap button on the upper horn, a couple of extremely minor un-photographable buckle marks on the back, and some very minor pick marks on the pickup.
I'm a huge Lakland fanboy and this is an encyclopedic example of Lakland's quality and attention to detail, always gets compliments and questions.
Excellent setup, plays fantastic, unique tone and looks thanks to the Darkstar pickup, 10lb 4oz, made in Korea 2006.
Comes with usable Charvel hardshell case, missing middle latch but totally usable. SALE: $1399 + shipping in CONUS only. Sorry, no international shipping. SOLD! SOLD! SOLD! TRADE: I need a backup to my Lakland Jazz bass I have a Roland GK installed on. So I would consider any type of jazz bodied bass or a bass where there's ample space between the bridge and controls so I can install a Roland GK-3B pickup and controller. Would love a less expensive instrument + cash, or even 2-for-1 deals. Visual condition of your instruments isn't important, but they must play perfectly without buzz or intonation issues to facilitate perfect tracking with the Roland GK. Also consider quality 16 channel mixers with multiple sub/buss in rolling cases, quality bass heads and/or cabs, Sennheiser 421/441 mic.

I've got one, and if I had $1399 laying around I'd buy this one for a backup. It's an absolutely fabulous bass. This is going to make someone very happy. Bump for a great bass.

However, it's also the single most expensive piece of gear I own and I've been playing my Lakland jazz as my primary instrument as it's the only of my three instruments the Roland GK controller can easily fit on the body VS an over-the-bridge installation which I hate. |

Extremely full sounding with a lot of beefy lows and mids as it leans heavily towards a vintage tone as it does not have much extremely bright high end you find with most modern instruments, even with the tone knob on full. Sounds great with a pick for lead bass type sounds (think New Order) as you get a ton of fundamental but without nasty pick noise. It has rounds on it right now but stick some flats on it for a truly solid fundamental.
Most notably it's very 'touch sensitive' in that the output varies greatly with your playing dynamics and when you really dig in hard it has a ton of available output which is great for driving tubes into overdrive.
It's all about the Darkstar regarding the tone. Truly unique pickup. |

Any jazz style body (Jazz, Jaguar, etc.) would work fine. Any other bod with about 2.5" between the bridge and the nearest control or jack should work, too. But that rules out most non-jazz bodied instruments.
Would love a DJ4 with Aero's + cash, US Fender Jazz Standard + cash.
Here's a photo of my 44-60 with the Roland GK installed for reference. |

| | So many basses, so little time | | Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: Alta Loma, CA | | | As a proud owner of one of these, I can easily say that its the closest thing to a "p-bass on steroids" as I have found. The darkstar pup is handles the vintage just fine, but when you get aggressive, you can get a very modern sound out of it. The aesthetics are classic, the jazz neck is comfy and beautiful at the same time. Buy it, you won't regret it, unless you just don't like p-basses.
darkstar + jazz neck + TI flats = nirvana for me.
