I'm still not sure I want to sell the bass. But over Thanksgiving my dog had emergency stomach surgery after swallowing an oven mitt. You know how pricey it is to take a dog to the Emergency animal clinic, especially over a holiday.
Anyways, some of you might have seen this bass on TB before. When I first bought it, the finish was stripped and coated with a bad 70s clear coat. It also had a Badass bridge installed and a Laguna pickup.
Luckily, the original bridge, and bridge cover was in the case. So I reinstalled the bridge. I also sent the bass to RS Guitarworks in Kentucky for an accurate refin. So it is now back to original blonde. It looks a little lighter than what I'm familiar with, but they told me that over time it will darken to the standard color.
I also purchased a 1968 Telecaster bass pickup that had never been installed. RS Guitarworks installed the pickup at the same time they put the bass back together before shipping it back to me. Here is what I know is original:
Body
Neck/Logo
Tuners
Pickguard
Bridge
Knobs
Finger Rest/ Tugbar Here is what I'm not sure is original (but could be):
Frets
Pots
Nut And the things I know are not original:
Finish
Pickup
Case
Because of the rarity, slow market, and mods, I'm not sure what price to list the bass. But I will start with ON HOLD--READ THE THREAD. But if you are seriously interested, shoot me a PM and we can talk about it. Also, if you want to see more detailed pics, send me a PM.
Thanks

I'm having my first child next April as well. That along with the holidays makes me reconsider what is important to me in life. I love this bass and put a lot of time and money in to restoring it the best I could. But I guess when it comes down to it, it's just a piece of wood and I could definitely use the money. (That's an easy thing to say to try to justify it to myself ) |

Send me your paypal info and I will send you 50.00 to help pay for the surgery for your dog. A good person should be rewarded for a fine act of compassion and not be made to sell a once in a life time Bass for doing so.

Ken | Ken, along with anyone else interested:
I did not seek out to receive money from anyone. I didn't even think to ask about the topic. However, with that said, if you would like to contribute, and have a little disposable income, I would gladly accept it. If I could raise enough, it would allow me to keep the 52. I'm sure some of you have seen my basses on the Sale section from time to time.
This 52 is very special to me, and it may look like I have money to blow, but it isn't the case. I'm in a constant rotation with basses, usually one bass I sell pays for another one I have already bought. AKA G.A.S.
So if anyone would like to contribute to the "Daisy" fund, my paypal email address is dwinn537@yahoo.com
BTW, here are some pics of my sweet, dumb girl. |

$$$ sent via paypal. Life is way more important than any instrument, no matter how valuable and your willingness to sacrifice is worth more to me that the cash sitting in my checking account. Good luck to you and Daisy.

I also had to put over $2k into my Goldendoodle after she ate a disposable razor this past spring. I know what you're going through! |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: May 2007 Location: Atlanta, GA | | | To fill anyone in that is interested. Daisy chewed up an oven mitt while I wasn't home. I didn't think it was a big deal because I've heard of dogs eating rocks and other hard things. But after a few days, she stopped eating, which is strange because she is ravenous when it comes to food. After one round of x-rays, the Dr told me to come back tomorrow for another round.
When the second xray showed no sign of the fabric passing on Wednesday, he recommended we do surgery immediately. So we went ahead with it.
Afterwards, the Dr told me that she had a big piece of fabric anchoring in her stomach, and a tail of fabric had already passed through her intestine, with another piece of fabric on the end. He had to make two cuts in her intestine, and also one in her stomach to remove everything.
So now she's just recovering and sleeping a lot. The dr. told me if I would have waited until after Thanksgiving that she probably wouldn't have survived. So I'm glad we made the right decision, even though the emergency clinic was literally about 10X the cost of the regular vet. She's worth it to me. |

There are indeed a lot more important things in life than the pieces of wood we value, but I hope our contributions help you keep your bass.
