SOLD! 1959 Fender Precision Bass

This is a vintage 1959 Fender Precision bass. The body has been sanded and painted black (unprofessionally) by a previous owner.

Neck: Maple with a STUNNING slab rosewood fretboard.
Clay position markers
Original tuners
The nut has been replaced and has NOT been sanded down.
Frets show signs of wear but are in good condition considering this bass is 50
years old.
Neck is straight with just a bit if relief.

Body: I’m pretty sure the body is alder. It has been sanded down and painted by a
previous owner.
The white plastic pickguard is a single layer and is not original, the metal layer
underneath the pickguard is original.
Original adjustable bridge.
Original pickups and pots (numbered 137 825)
The original capacitor is included but isn’t wired up.
Volume and tone knobs are not original.
Strap buttons appear to be original.

Serial Number: 391XX

This bass plays and sounds killer!! I hate to part with it but I am more of a 5 string/24 fret kind of guy. Please contact me with any question and I will answer them to the best of my knowledge.

I had this bass appraised by a few local vintage fender collectors and retailers. My asking price is an average of what I have been quoted.

$5,000 or best offer. PRICE REDUCED DO TO MORE RECENT QUOTES.

Thanks, Sam

Good luck . . . I had my '59 (#38917 one piece maple neck) listed for awhile at 6000 and had no serious buyers . . . lots of interest, but no $$$
