Hello
Well, It Could be a 1960 or an early 1961, but I think '59 sounds cooler.
I've read they made about 500 of these.
What's wrong:
Refinished and routed for a Vintage DiMarzio, a long time ago. Tuner ferrules not original. 19th fret position marker seems to be a diamond. Non-Original wiring. Replacement Pickguard. No discernible serial number
When I got it, it was not wired and had the 'new' routing. I had a vintage Dimarzio that fit great and didn't want to bother to block it. I had Jack Read do all the wiring. The tone control is now a blend and pulling it up splits the coil in the DiMarzio. I am embarrassed to admit I don't recall what the volume now does, seems to change the tone, though. See, I am Old.
What's Right:
It's the 1st model EB-O. It has the original Banjo Tuners, the original frets (at least I'm Pretty sure..), the original Pickup, no breaks/cracks on the body-neck-head. The new pickup doesn't help the resale (seen unaltered ones in the 5k range) but it actually gives it a Lot of useful tones. Blend to the neck, all the thump you'll ever need. fade in the bridge, ahh, Definition. Original Bridge and Knobs
Straight neck, Low action. 30.5 " scale length
Comes w/ an old hard-shell case, doubt if original (actually reminds me of the one I had w/ my Dan Armstrong, around 1972).
Sad to sell, but the mortgage company had little interest in it.
Currently have more basses than money, so not interested in trades, unless, of course it is Crazy in my favor. 5-string Series One, maybe?
$1550.00, includes very careful UPS shipping to the lower 48.
