1962 Fender Jazz Bass All Original

This is an all original 1962 Fender Jazz bass. It's the absolute most comfortable bass I've ever played. I have it strung with Thomastik Infeld flats, and it just sings.
I have the opportunity to buy back one of my basses from a friend, and unfortunately, need to part with this beauty.
Everything is original on the bass. There are two things that I should note about it. The solder joints have been re applied.
The other is that the original decal does not say Jazz Bass. If you look closely, the logo was clipped. It's definitely original, but for some reason, that is how it is.
Comes with original case and pickup/bridge covers.
Weighs about 9 pounds.
Please email me with any questions you may have

$9,000 shipped

If I had 9 grand, this is what I would spend it on. Nice bass! I am VERY jealous.

Slab refers to the bottom of the rosewood not the radius on top. Looks like slab to me from the photo. Also, and now I'm getting picky, it's a laminate neck as in two pieces makes it up but the fingerboard, like all others, is a single piece of wood. Incredible bass.

It's not a slab. It's referred to as a laminate or curve board. It's called laminate because the rosewood is the same thickness across the board and the has the same radius on top as well as where it glues to the maple. Slab is a much thicker peice of rosewood and is a straight cut where the rosewood meets the maple. If it were a slab board it would be worth about 3k more than he's asking.

We agree that slab refers to it being flat where it meets the maple. That is what I see from the photo. As always, I could be wrong...but check Google: https://www.google.com/search?q=fender%20jazz%20slab%20neck&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-USfficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=7Y_3UPDG G8HN2QXcuYGIBg&biw=747&bih=316&sei=84_3UKP-MuqA2AX14YDACQ

After seeing a few 62 slabs, scroll down a few and check out that 1965 neck, that's the difference.

dave79, how about you check google yourself? It's clearly 100% a veneer rosewood fingerboard, not a slab. If you've ever seen these in the flesh it's very obvious.

It's just looks flat to me from the photo(as I originally said), but as I said I could be wrong, usually the nut penetrates into the rosewood on slabs so really that was my main hesitation. Thanks for assuming that I don't own both pre-CBS slab and "veneer" Fenders, you are wrong on both counts. Also thanks for suggesting I check Google myself when I provide a link from Google, really intelligent discourse...even for this late at night.
Unsubscribed. GLWTS D Bopp...and if you have any interest in trade for a mint $14k Ritter

Beautiful bass, I really like it. Definitely a curve board and not a slab, don't see where the controversy is.

It's a curved board, just like I mentioned in my original reply. On a slab board, the rosewood would run straight across, slightly through the truss rod screw.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Nice price too.

Fender was very inconsistent in the pre-CBS days but I thought I read that slab rosewood was done until sometime in 1963 and then veneer.

Also, I've seen pre-CBS slabs that were very thin and others that were thicker but I've never seen a so called thick slab like over an 1/8".

Once again, Fender was very inconsistent in those days. Could that be why the decal is clipped? Strange!

Good luck! Your price is very fair and look at that case!!!!!! WOW!

Mid '62 is when they went to the curve board.
