I'm selling this '63 Jazz that belonged to a deceased friend. His widow has asked me to move the guitar for her after holding on to it for 10 years. I would love to have it but its to much of an investment for me. Everything pictured is original. The pic guard has what looks like black sharpie around the edge hiding the multiply, I gently scraped some of the black off, easy to do. It's missing clay dot #1.
I would love to know how many 60's Fender guitars lost their sunburst to the hands of those who must have craved natural wood. I personally know of 4.
The finish is clear Laq.
As I mentioned earlier, it's a typically awesome '63 with an A neck profile. Pots are dead quiet and it sounds superb in the hands of a player.
I have many detailed, high Res pics and can provide any other specific shot you might want. But please don't ask for something special unless you are genuinely interested.
4200.00 - US buyers only. Shipping and pmt worked out at time of sale.
Thanks
JG

If you don't like the natural finish you could get it painted and nitro'd and still have beautiful pre-cbs JB for around $4.5k.
Good luck with the sale. |

| | | | Yeah I know......Original sunburst would be nice but me loves some Olympic white with a rosewood board. A while back I did a little poll of whether I should have it finished and then sell after. I like it this way, you know what you're getting and can choose to have it done or not. |

But what really impresses me it the fact that you're doing such a nice thing for your friend's wife. If she didn't know everything about a 63 Jazz, someone might have taken advantage of that limited knowledge. So you are a blessing and I suspect that the $4,200 buyer will be showing up soon. Jazz

I watch the auctions as I own an old jazz and am interested in how the market goes. This seems like a very reasonable price. Best of luck with the sale.

The finish is clear Laq. | Sorry but it's not clear to me - is this the original finish?
Great deal in any case... |

Well she's more like family, my old mate really wasn't a player, he tinkered. He was a really good collector of cool stuff and got this from his favorite pawn shop in 1976. He might have played it in a garage band for a time but thats it. So the condition is what it was when he got it. He had collections of cards, comics, antiques etc. She gave me a '68 jazz neck, a 1949 ES 125, a '65 Melody Maker when he passed.....so I owe her! There's plenty of interest but its still available

| | | | To answer a few questions -
No Mods done other than the de-finish. Its the original case. There is no evidence of a fret job, the neck is straight, setup is comfortable for me - no buzz, PU's sound fat and quiet -pots are clean, all the wires are original with no evidence of re-solder, Pickguard screws look original but its hard to tell.
Guitar is in SE Virginia, since shipping and insurance will be expensive I'll ask the buyer to help with that.
Paypal is the safest method for buyers |
