1966 Fender Coronado Bass w/ Original Hard Case

And it has a Humbucker(!) I don't know what, when, or how on that one but it's very LOUD and sounds great.

This bass was a lot of fun but I'm never going to gig with a short scale, so off it goes.
The back of the neck is near perfect. Case is the original Victoria Luggage and it is missing the throw part on one of the latches (take it to a luggage store or something if you want it fixed). It plays easily with medium action, probably about the best you can do for a short scale hollowbody from the 60's. The relief is perfect on the neck, when I hold down on the first and last fret of the E string the space above the 8th fret is the same as my Fodera. The bass might be able to get super low action with a shim since the bridge is as low as it will go, but I like it just fine where it is.
It also has one replaced screw on one of the tuners (one of the small ones not the large screw). I haven't pulled the neck to look at that date, for some reason I really don't want to on this bass. Serial puts it at 66-67, but the early bridge and lollipop tuners make it most likely a '66, I can pull the neck if it's that important.

EBAY'd, SOLD

Thanks, the color doesn't come through well in the flash pics though. I'll have to wait until sunlight to show that the red is transparent showing the wood grain underneath and the light golden, sparkly patina around the front and back rims and the F holes that darkens into the red.

Beautiful bass! I had a 1967 Coronado II in sunburst. Alas it is in Germany now.

The original vintage pickup goes for around $150 on eBay and the screw holes are there to drop it right in
