To own a fretless semi hollow bass has been a dream of mine for awhile, and when I saw this locally for sale I had to have it. I keep on repeating this pattern in my life where I try to not play drums. Drums are my main instrument and are what I am great at. I can do a few licks on bass, and while its fun, its just not me. Im in an experimental jazz funk band right now, and would like to devote all of my time to the skins. I don't have a need for this and could use the money, so Im going to let it go.
This bass is straight cool. Theres a wealth of literature on the internet, and I will probably reference that later on in this post as I am doing this from my phone. It plays and sounds dynamite, and Im not sure how to properly describe it to do it justice. The guy I bought it from had it set up and it was given a clean bill of health.
This bass is used, and has the typical wear of a bass that is over 40 years old. Definitely a player. Here are some notable points:
The tone nob for the bridge is missing. There is a piece of plastic near the bridge pickup that is missing. As is typical of these basses, the wood has "stretch" marks, but this is purely cosmetic, and does not effect the constitution of the bass. The bass is black and a good looker. Plenty of mojo.
The bass comes with a new Levis strap and a Kramer case unoriginal to the bass, but fits it perfectly. As is the usual, Im not sure how to post photos, so PM me with a your email and Ill happily send some your way.
Price is 550 shipped. Whoever gets this is getting a really special piece. These are rare, and do not come up all that often. Here is an opportunity to own a piece of Ovation history. Anyone who would like to add information on this bass, feel free. Thanks for the time and opportunity, and I look forward to hearing something.
