I really don't want to do this, but priorities are changing and I think its time to let this one go.

1973 Fender Jazz Bass, serial # 507xxx. This a great example of a 70's Fender Jazz weighing in at 8.8lbs on my digital bathroom scale. Its sounds great and plays fantastic IMHO. Its one of the easier playing basses I own, the action gets nice and low. It looks like two of the springs on the bridge were changed at some point, and its missing the neck pu cover, so I'd say its about 98% original. It has honest playing wear, but nothing major. The finish is worn thru in a few spots, but they're pretty small. There are some scratches on the back (big belt buckles?), but they don't break the finish, and there's a few dings on the end of the headstock. At some point, someone put a thumb rest over the bridge pu. They must have tightened it down pretty hard because it left an imprint. I've got a pic of that area below, but that's about it. Its really pretty clean for a 38 year old bass. The case is in good shape too, but one latch is broken. I've heard a luggage repair shop could fix it, but I've never checked into it. I'm asking $2800 + shipping for it. I'm not really looking for trades, but I'd consider trading for a Parker Fly or PRS 4 string + cash. I'd also consider a Fullerton jazz. I'd prefer to keep it to CONUS, but I may consider and international sale.

I bought the identical bass in 1973, took the covers off and put some belt buckle imprints in the back. Sold it like a fool for a Gibson Les Paul Recording bass.

That is gorgeous! Wish I could help you out but I all I found was .68 cents, some old Cheerios and a red Barbie shoe (my daughters) in my couch. Obviously I need to upgrade my couch! Good luck!

Ron, are you considering trades on the '77 Fender jazz?

Just an FYI .... I've dealt with Ron Mexico on a high dollar bass... he's a straight shooter, and good to deal with all around. Whoever ends up with this bass is gonna be very happy.

Nice bass. Have you had the neck off? Do you think it is original to the bass? Thanks!
