1976 Rickenbacker 4001 JetGlo, Ex cond, + case. SOLD!

SOLD!

1976 Rickenbacker 4001 JetGlo, Ex cond, + case.

Here you go Ric fans: A 1976 4001 in fantastic condition for it's age. Very tough to find one in better condition.
The white binding is aging to a nice yellowing tint, the back of the neck has no marks, and only slight marks on the top of the headstock.
Very little fretwear. The only significant marks are on the back of the body. 2 belt scratch areas, and the wood showing in 1 spot.
No neck cracks, splits, or anything like that. The neck is NOT super thin like many 70's Rics. I would consider it medium thickness. Thicker than a '77 I had, and thinner than the '06 I still have. Certainly no worries with putting roundwound strings on it. New Slinky 45-100 on it right now.
There is plenty of room left on the trussrods as well. The previous owner shaved a little wood under the rod nuts for easier access, I guess. Super low action, and the neck feels great.
The side dot markers look dark brown to me. Not black. They seem to match the fingerboard perfectly. I've heard of red ones, but never a mention of dark brown. I could be wrong though.
The electronics are all original with no modifications. Original case and pickup cover included.

Centennial related price of $1676 shipped
PRICE DROP: $1550 $1500 shipped within the continental U.S. Paypal preferred. Sorry, no trades at this time.

I know the '74's had red dot markers on the binding...are you sure of the year? My '75 did not.

I have a 74. It doesn't have red markers.

Not all the '74s had red side dots. It was about a six-month period in the March-August '74 timeframe. In any case, these dots do seem a bit more brown than the red dots I've seen, but photos can be tricky. Then again, Ricks do show some variability with items such as these - there are exceptions to many features and time periods.

The jackplate serial appears to read "PF," which would be June '76.

Great bass!
I can't believe I bought a 74 back in 1988 for $450! I traded it like an idiot. This is one of my favorite model basses in my favorite color scheme. Somebody will be very lucky!

You can't make a generalization for a whole year for the red markers.

Many manufacturers use parts that are in the factory at time time of manufacturer.

I have seen 73, 74, 75, and 76 that all had white markers, and I have seen a bass from that era that had the red markers.
