1977 / 1978 Fender Precision....All Original

Time to sell my vintage Precision Bass.

SOLD March 11, 2013....Thanks, Lee!

This bass is a 1977 or 1978 as indicated by the serial number S864998.
  • Finish is three color sunburst
  • Wood grain makes body appear to be ash
  • Bass is 100% original
  • Replacement tortoise shell pickguard is in photo, but I have the original and will include both pickguards in the sale. A photo of the original, black pickguard appears in a following post
  • Weight is about 10 pounds on the analog bathroom scale
  • Condition is 8/10
  • Comes with original Fender black tolex hardshell case. Case condition is 7.5/10. There are a few dings here and there. All latches work.
This bass was my number one stage bass from 2005 - 2010. It had very little use before that. It does have a few nicks and dings, but nothing major or exceptional. The photos represent the condition well.

This bass is a great player and has what I think of as that "traditional P Bass sound".

I'm only interested in cash deals....no trades, please.

Price is $1,950.00, shipped, insured in CONUS. I accept PayPal.

Please PM me with questions, requests for more information or to do a deal.

Please click on the thumbnails for larger images.

Photos of the reverse side are on the following post.

Thanks for looking.

Damn, that's nice! I have a '76 that has a rosewood fretboard, but wish it was maple!

Wow... that's as good as it gets.

Good luck with the sale. The price is more than fair.

I'd scoop that up right now if I were back on American soil, but I'm still overseas until April...is it wrong to hope nobody buys it until then?
