When I saw this listen on here awhile back, I just HAD to have it...it was perfect for the punk band I was working with at the time. Unfortunately that band imploded shortly afterwards and I'm doing an 80's hair metal thing now that this just don't fit.
$425 Shipped CONUS. Will consider trades but ONLY if it's disgustingly 80's metal with a P pickup, such as an Ibanez Destroyer.
Cut-and-pasted from the ad I bought it from since it sums it up well:
This Fender Musicmaster was made in 1977-78, and it's been modified a bit:
- The previous owner stripped off the finish (the original color may have been red?) and it looks like they may have finished the rosewood fretboard as well - it looks glossy.
- The original pickguard cracked completely, so I cut it (kind of crudely, I admit) and slapped on a Mustang control plate.
- The electronics are non-original: The pickup is a new L45S blade humbucker made by Wilde Pickups, the company that Bill Lawrence is now associated with. The pickup is connected to a Bayou Cables wiring harness.
The bridge and tuners are all original. The only "issue" with this bass is the G tuner, which takes a little more effort to turn than the others. The frets are in excellent shape, the neck is straight, weighs around 8 lbs.... this is a very solid bass, anyone looking for a short scale player should consider it!
The case in the picture is not included, but I have a soft case for it that I'll throw in.
Rock that late 70's art-punk Sonic Youth / Talking Heads / XTC / Television vibe!!! Heck, even Dee Dee Ramone played one for awhile.
