This is what many call a "transition" jazz bass as it was completed in 1982 (as per stamp on heel of neck) but built with parts from both 70's and 80's. The neck is rare in that it is bound but has dots instead of blocks and carries a 78 serial number. The body is ash and is attached to the neck with the 3 bolt tiltomatic plate. The pickups are 70's position. The pickguard is 80's at it has no thumbrest or holes for a neck pickup guard. The bridge is of heavier guage like the 80's basses. The tuners are vintage in style like 70's. I believe it to be all original from the factory. I'm not certain about the F plate though. I don't have the original case. It weighs around 10 lbs. and the truss rod works perfectly. And yes it does have binding with dots. Absolutely gorgeous! It's not in perfect condition but it has no major dings or dents. It has a little buckle rash on the back but nothing through the paint or wood (just the clear). The neck is very clean with only two small areas on the binding where the clear has rubbed off (documented in the additional pics link). The fretwear is negligible. It plays awesome and is very resonant. The only thing I've done to it since I got it was give it a good buffing. The vintage blonde 1978 is not part of the deal! I'm not completely INSANE! LOL! They just look so good together! Asking $2100 $1985 $1885 $1785 shipped. Here is a link with more detailed pics of the bass including electronics and date on the neck heel.

At first glance, that is the most appealing Jazz bass I've ever seen. Good luck with it. It looks utterly fantastic.
