1978 Fender Jazz Bass FS/FT

I think I've decided to sell my 1978 Fender Jazz Bass.

The GAS has hit me, and I can't stop thinking about a heavily modified 1973 EB3 in a local music store.

This bass has its share of dings, but it plays great, and has a really nice mellow sound.

The bass is 100% original, and I even have the original bridge and pickup covers. I do not have the original screws for these, but I did cannibalize some pickup screws from another bass I will include.

Original hard shell case is included. The case is in decent shape, with the exception of one broken latch.

I just weighed this thing, and its 11.8 Lbs according to my scale, so if you are looking for an ultra-light, move along. I have a thick padded strap I can throw in to try to ease your shoulder worries.

I'm looking to get $1900 shipped for this.

Like I said, I'm hoping to get an EB3 locally, so I will consider trades for other EB3s. Ideally I'd like to get one that is long scale, with the mudbucker in the middle position, and one that is already modded, I'd hate to ruin the value of a vintage instrument by swapping pickups out. I would also consider a Gibson SG bass.

I'm always up for looking at anything else interesting, but this is really what I'm looking for right now.

Cash to be added or subtracted as appropriate.

Check out the pics. Feel free to ask any questions, I can provide more/different pics, and I might record some sound samples later.

I had one once. Those necks are to die for.

Be patient with the sale. The market is pretty dead at the moment.

No thanks. I've been down that road before. Awesome basses, but not for me.

That is one sexy Jazz....................and I'm a Gibson guy. I think you are good on price it's just tough out there, bad time to sell a bass, good time to buy. What I really like about your bass is that it appears untouched, rubbing compound under the guard and controls etc. Very cool bass.

I have been buying, selling and trading for years...with the current economic state your asking price is a tad high. I have been watching this era Fenders over the last year and they seem to be averaging around $1900 in excellent condition.

This one is played, doesn't appear to be abused at all. IMHO, I'd say that you are looking at the $1300-$1500 range. I could be wrong...I just posted my '78 P-Bass up, hope I did not under price it!

Well, I am willing to listen to offers, but I won't be selling it for that price.

I've got a gloss black (ebony) Gibson SG bass. Its the older style with the dot neck. It's a discontinued color and I'm pretty attached to her. She's near mint and a great player. If you think you may want to swap send me a pm.
