Exclamation 1978 Fender Jazz Bass--REAL RELIC!! FS or FT

Sign in to disble this ad
Up for Sale or Trade is my 1978 Fender Jazz Bass that I've owned for almost 20 years. (S/N# S8848218) Sunburst finish, original black/ white/ black pick guard, solid ash body, pearl block inlays on maple neck/ fingerboard. Original pots, pick ups, bridge... Everything is from the Fullerton factory as it was built. It was in a house fire about 6 months after I purchased it, which made it an instant 'relic', without hurting any of the electronics or playability. Gary Brawer (http://www.brawer.com/) adjusted the neck and action and it PLAYS & SOUNDS GREAT. Rich, deep tone and will not loose tune for months!

Pics of the Bass are here: http://s212.photobucket.com/albums/c...20Jazz%20Bass/

Would like to TRADE (+ or - Cash) for an original '57 American P-Bass Reissue in Black, Blue, or Red. Fullerton (or even pre-90s) preferred.

Will sell for $1400 outright, but would prefer the trade for the right bass!

PM'd since yesterday...
Were the worn/burnt/peeled areas (specially those at the neck, neck's edge and fretboard) refinished and are they smooth to the touch???
... or were left unfinished/untouched?
PM'd again

Just to answer questions about wear pattern- The bass was in a case inside a house fire- It got heated up, but did not damage to the electrics or sound. Before the fire it was in like-new condition- Not worn out.

The neck is straight, & truss rod functions fine.
The frets are in good shape- The black you see is lamination build up from the heat. They are lower than the frets so there is no playability issue.
The neck is super smooth- It has discoloration from the fire/ smoke, but no surface issue, other than the white fret marker at the top.

I plugged this bass in yesterday and played it-- Sounds killer- Played perfectly. even after sitting for 6+ months!!!

To All Buyers:

I've got a number of PMs, but no one has paid for the bass yet. First one to PayPal me the money gets it. I've sent my e-mail address to everyone who offered to buy it at this point.

Thank You!

jay

PS- Still looking for a 80s era 57 Reissue P-Bass as well.

Cool ... you offically have the first "roasted" neck.
Who would have thought that 20yrs later ... roasted necks would become an option.

Good Luck with the sale ... kinda surprised it's still around.

Just fyi for those who are on the fence about this one: I bought a bass from a "fire sale" once. The store burnt to the ground and only a few instruments survived. The Ibanez I bought was charred around the edges and the finish was bubbling up in several spot all over the neck. Despite all this the bass played GREAT with no issues at all. In fact, it was still in tune when it was pulled from the case!

Thanks man... I'm really surprised too. I listed it at a super fair price, and I've had a TON of PM's about it, lots of 'non-57 P-Bass' trade offers, but no one has bought it as of yet...

Its true-- I cleaned the bass up and played it in a band and in the studio for nearly 20 YEARS after the fire-- Everything works perfectly and I forget it was in a fire till I look down... Or take a really big whiff!

what is the weight of that bad boy? I think a lot of people are apprehensive of your lack of sales feedback on TB, and low post count. Just saying
