| iriegnome | 02-12-2013 02:09 PM | 1978 Washburn Scavenger I have a 1978 Washburn Scavenger bass that I am putting up for sale. Arch top, all original, Trans Wine color, Mahogony Body and neck, Rosewood 22 fret board. This is a great bass. Single pick up probably made in the Matsumoku factory for Washburn. This is a very early 5 digit serial number version. There are some minor dents on the body, normal wear, a couple of scratches on the back but most seem to be minor. On to the negative things.
The nut is wrong. The bass has a strap button just behind the neck plate. Making me think that this was once someone's lefty bass. The nut will need to be replaced. Where the G string runs through, it appears to be cut for a normal E string. Also, upon very close inspection, you can see that the nut has been changed all ready. However the original pictures, this bass had a plastic or bone nut.
Second, the neck has a slight bow to it. Usually no big deal, but I do not have a wrench to work on it. It is enough that I felt it should be mentioned. I don't know if the truss rod works or not since I don't have a wrench to try it out.
All the electronics look original and everything works. The bass is playable, but needs a setup. I will include a new set of strings with the bass.. Please see my terrible cell pic's and I will try to post better pictures. Please ask any questions and let me know. I am looking for $325 shipped to the lower 48. |
