Hello fellow talkbassers! I am not gigging much anymore, so I am selling off some equipment that isn't getting used to fund other interests.
This is a 1979 stingray which was traded to me on TB some time ago (I believe it was user bobunit). This is all original with exception of a refret. The bad news - the original neck will need some TLC, unless you like fairly high action. The truss rod is in working condition, however it is maxed out. It will require some type of spacer to be made on the rod to enable it to get more threads to grip onto. There is a tuner screw or two broken off as well.
I bought a NEW Status fretted neck directly from Status for this as this is what the previous owner had, and said it killed. He was correct...this thing is a monster on both playability and tone. The bad news? I installed it, and it isn't perfect. A little too much force inserting the tuner ferrules caused a couple cracks in the clearcoat. It is JUST in the clear, and cannot be felt running your finger across them. The other tool thing I did while installing was not get the neck completely down into the pocket. I'd estimate it to be a 1/16th inch gap. The good news is, this can easily be repaired by buying an anchor kit where anchors are inserted into the neck heel (using a slightly larger hole) which will get it into the correct spot, and provide a much more stable neck joint.
This comes with a cool, old hardshell case......cool blue liner.
I am going to price this for a quick sale - this is a great price as the seller I got it from was asking 2k with his status neck, or 1500 without in the same condition.
$1200 for the bass with the original neck and all original parts.
$1500 for all the above with both the original and the loaded status neck. This has its own tuners and hardware, not shared with the original.
