SOLD Mahogany body, tobacco burst; wonderful mojo wear on the body. Sounds massively thunderous like all “wunkays.”
One-piece maple neck. Back of the neck has been deglossed, oiled/waxed for a natural feel like an EBMM. Fretboard and headstock have original tinted finish.
Trussrod works perfectly. Neck was shimmed to lower the action; shim is basswood and painted black on the edges so it's tough to see. Refretted sometime in the 90s. New Tusq nut. Everything else is original.
Strung with GHS Boomers (45-100). Weight is approx. 9.5 lbs. Ships in original hardshell case, clean blue interior. $750. SOLD
Paypal please, price includes shipping in continental US only. No trades. Thank you!

1980 have big hex; 1982 on have small hex.
Can't tell for sure from the pics, but those look 1980 to me.

And also- DAMN! that's a yummy bass!

Both your standard Fender P and J have their neck pickup coils at more or less 28" from the nut. In the Precision's case, E and A coils are at 28:, and D and G are at 29...
The G&L's two rows of coils are at 28 and 29.
The Big MFD humucker is coil tapped, with three choices available.
The dual parallel is kinda P bass like; with some of the resulting loss of high end extension you get with dual coils; though the mids aren't as pronounced.
Single coil mode is kinda J bass like, with more top end and more low end, and less mid bump.
The third choice is single coil p;lus bass boost, which keeps all it's high end clarity, and adds enough low end to be truly earth moving.
The G&L's control layout is nice: vol, treble cut and bass cut. Why all passive basses aren't like this, I don't know. But, it makes it very easy to trim that some of that massive low end from the single coil plus bass boost mode.
