1981 G&L L1000 lineless fretless, beautiful!!

This is a really sweet bass but immediately after purchasing it from a fellow TB'er my musical direction changed and it hasn't really seen any use.

It's a super-early G&L bass, an L1000 model from early 1981. It is in immaculate shape for it's age with only very minor wear. The body ash finished in a very dark trans-blue, the neck is rock maple, and the the fingerboard is either really dark rosewood, or ebony, I'm not sure which.. The neck has some pretty cool wavy figuring. It's all stock with all the original electronics, and it sounds HUGE! 3-bolt neck joint with micro-tilt, and a "bullet" trussrod. Lawsuit headstock shape. The pickup also has the slot-pole pieces, which were only used in '81 I think. The neck is perfect and the action is medium-low, set up with old flatwounds. There are no lines or dots on the board, but there are side dots at the fret positions (3, 5, 7, 9, and so on).

For a sale, I'd like to get $775 shipped.

With trades, I'm interested in Stingrays and various Fenders. 4's and 5's are cool. I'm also into Ampeg amps, and maybe some others too. Lastly, I'd also look at various Gibson Les Paul and Fender guitars, and possibly some guitar amps too.

Bump! Anyone into a cool vintage fretless? Sorry it's taking so long with the pics, I've been gone a lot. I swear they'll be up tomorrow!

Bump for what appears to be a great bass. Man, I'm a sucker for the old slot-poles. Though I'm not much of a fretless player, I've sort of had a hankerin' for one lately and this is mighty tempting.

Case included? Original oversized control knobs?

Are you looking for straight-up trades only or would you be willing to put up some cash if the right deal came along? (Just thought I'd ask before I tempt you with my potential trade bait.)

It has the original oversized chrome knobs. A case might be included if I can find one; that's still up in the air. I'd be into putting some cash toward a bass if I was super-hot for it!

I'll have pics up in about 10 minutes.

Bumpage! Quite a few cool offers so far, but no takers yet. BTW, in 99% percent of the situations you're in, the bass doesn't appear quite as smurf-blue as it does in the pics. They were taken in direct sunlight on the most beautiful day of the year so far

I'm not sure on the nut width, and I'm currently 200 miles away from the bass so I can't really measure it at the moment.... it feels like a P-Bass, so 1.75" would be my guess?

1 5/8" is the most likely, as this width was used on most L1000s of this vintage. 1 11/16" (early P-bass width) possibly, which was the other width in common use by G&L on basses of this vintage. My '84ish L1K fretless measures 1 5/8" at the neck. Wonderful neck.

Almost certainly not 1.75", although I am willing to be corrected when the neck can be measured.

Beautiful bass, BTW!

Beautiful blue color, ruined by the guy who painted the bare feet on it...
