This is a 1981 Rickenbacker 4001 (serial # UL4306). It has a custom paint job on it that I had done way back in high school by the guy who did a lot of the original artwork for the old 9:30 club in Washington, DC. (we're talking late 80's/early 90's so cut me some slack!). Has a bit of a tribal/geiger-esque feel to it.
Sounds and plays just like a ric should, but my tastes have changed over the years & it's no longer my first or second go to bass.
Comes with OHSC.
Bridge & pickups original, neck is straight.
And here's the character flaws:
The ric'o'sound has been disconnected. I took off the pick guard & took some pics so you can see what's going on with the guts. All the tone pots are original.
The low E tuning knob is slightly bent, this has never affected tuning or winding. And a couple of screws aren't original on the tuning pegs.
There's a hole in the pick guard between the pick up selector switch & the volume knob. I don't know why it's there. (my best guess is that the pickup switch was moved a bit). And there's some buckle rash.
here's a bunch of pics
Aesthetics aside, this is a great bass. It could easily be refinished & sold for twice as much. I just don't have the time or willingness.
asking $675.00 shipped, paypal preferred.
Feel free to ask any questions & I'll answer them the best I can.
