Here is my MINT 1983 Fender Squier Precision bass. It was made at the legendary Matsumoku Plant in Japan.
This is an example of Fender's golden era bass guitars.
As we all know, this was the first (or second) year of Squier and the build quality in Japan is top quality, surpassing USA models. This subject will be open for debate, I'm sure from the Fender guys, but personally, I think MIJ basses are top shelf.
This bass looks as if it was untouched for 27 years. It has no marking on it, except for a tiny scratch on the (replaceable) pickguard. $700 $600 $550 shipped in a gig bag.

This is a top quality Fender bass

Make offer - I'm tired of giving Ebay commission every time. I'd rather sell it to a TB'er here

There looks to be several things not quite right about the body, including the location of the bridge, how the pickguard sits relative to the lower bout, and where the upper horn extends to (about a fret too short). I think that even on a 32" scale P-bass, these would not be correct.
To the OP: do you know anything more about the history of this bass? |

It is possible that this is a non-import model . I am no expert, though.
Plus, since you're in Bay Area, you can check it out in person.

| | Totally into Geddy Lee & Mark King ! | | Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Sonoma County, California ! | | | I have received so many PM's regarding this bass. There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding it's origin.
I am the first person to say that I am not a Fender expert.
I bought this bass this way. MAYBE somebody put this bass together, but it seems stock to me. All signs point to vintage. The Candy Apple Red is even a nice, aged red yet retains it's beauty. Either way, the neck and body are mint and the neck plate serial number matches it's age.
So, I have decided to have YOU guys tell me what the right price for this bass should be. I am not breaking TB rules because I have an asking price. I am motivated to sell this because I just don't need it anymore.
PLEASE make me an offer if you want to buy this bass.

Now, I don't have to listen to all the PM's telling me what's not correct about this bass
I am not a Fender expert at all, so thank goodness this is over ...
Thanks though for the education.
