For sale is a beautiful specimen of the antique kind. This bass in an E3 Serial Number (1983) Fender Precision Bass in nearly new condition. Made in the USA - the Fullerton plant. There is some bruising on the end of the headstock (as shown in the pics) but otherwise, this bass is as close to new as you will find on a 30 year old instrument. In fact, when I took it to my local guitar guy, he thought it was a reissue. You will see that it has "aged" to a nice yellow-ish tone. Amazingly there is no corrosion or oxidation on any of the chrome.
It comes with what I believe is the original hardshell case (I am the third owner, I think). It currently has an after market black/white/black pickguard and official Fender black pickup covers. This is how it will ship. However, it also comes with the original one ply white guard and white pup covers as seen in the pictures. It is currently strung with D'Addario Half Wound strings but had flat wounds up until I bought it. Frets are like new. I have put on Dunlop strap locks, but the original strap buttons are included (with original screws).
It is a little heavier than the newer P-basses, but it is not a ton like the 70s P-basses. I am going to guess about 9 lbs.
I am asking $1,225 shipped OBO. Paypal accepted. Local (NJ) cash deal is preferred but not necessary.
