Love this one but I'm in a moving stage. 1983 "Grover Jackson" Pre-EB Stingray. This 2 band Ray is one of the punchiest basses that I have ever played. I want to keep it but I'm so far in jazz land that it never gets played.
All original (beside case & mutes) bass with wear in all the right spots. It has a few dings that are pictured but nothing that affects playability. Truss moves freely both ways, and the neck is set with just a touch of relief. Action is low with no buzzing (I play with a fairly light touch,) and the neck is super fun to play. IMO a much more friendly neck profile than EB Rays.
When I received the bass it was a bit noisy with the treble pot rolled on heavy, but I did some extensive shielding and the issue is much better. The neck has a couple of dings that were hard to capture in the pics, but for going on 30 years it's in good shape. Frets are in good shape, and will come shipped with a set of R. Cocco nickels which I'm really digging. Weight is 9.6 lbs (bathroom scale method) and balances wonderful.
Bump for the Best Playing Stingray I've ever picked up!
These early 'Rays are known for their noisy electronics, and Shielding is the only answer unless you're willing to replace the preamp. (NOT!!!)

This bears an uncanny resemblance to one I used to own(it was a sweet bass), you didn't happen to get it from someone in VA?
Maybe!
