Hi-
Check out the photos of this very nice 1983-1984 Steinberger. The bass is in excellent condition, with typical minor scuffs, dings, dents, and scratches. For a 27-year old bass, it is remarkably nice. The original frets show only minor wear.
This bass has a very early serial number (227). It was made in the Newberg factory. Also note the single-ply PG, unlike the BWB on later models. The "Steinberger" logo is not molded or machined into the PG, which is also indicative of an early-production bass.
8lb-1oz
I've installed an aftermarket headpiece that allows you to use any strings, instead of just double-ball like the stock bass. The stock headpiece will be included. No modifications were to the bass. The higher mass of the aftermarket headpiece is said to enhance sustain. It cost well over $100, and is a very nice functional addition to the bass.
The zipper on the original gig bag needs to be replaced or somehow repaired. I am also including a new, much nicer Steinberger gig bag. See photos.
The only flaw worth noting is that it appears that a small crack on the pickguard has been repaired. It is only noticable under certain light. Its no big deal, but should be noted.
The stock passive EMGs are present. It is currently strung with DR Black Beauties.
This bass should have good future collector value.
