Sign in to disble this ad
1984 Gibson Explorer
$800 shipped conus PRICE DROP $799 !!! Shipped Conus
All original hardware and electronics.
Nut width 1"5/8
Comes with hardshell case. *Not the original case.*
There is a lot of wear on this bass, but it plays great.
This is being sold to start a piggybank for a 70's p-bass for my friend Summer. He played this bass on several tours and albums with his band Baroness. This bass is being sold for the price they have been sold for over the past few months as opposed to a few years ago because as we all know there is more gear than ca$h nowadays.
Also if you have a line on any awesome 70s pbass let me know

I knew that bass looked familiar. Bump for the Baroness bass. That band is sick.

I'd buy it just because of who used to own it. Epic sale!

Back in 1992 when I was on my way to college in Nashville from Laurel MD
I answered an ad for a pre EB musicman stingray it was mint in the case I can't remember exactly how much I paid $375 or $600 but I realized when the ad said the guy selling was named Joe I didn't realize until after talking awhile that it was Joe Lally of Fugazi which was one of the reasons I was into the stingray in the first place. When I realized I was babying the bass too much and I wanted to sell it I was being offered $1300 for the thing which while it was mint was based on the history. I did the right thing and sold it to atomic music for $700 for a black and blue Ric ($575 ((shoulda kept)) and a farfisa tube organ thing($125((shoulda never bought)
This bass is being offered at it's market price there's no Hard Rock Cafe here.
It's just that I like many other people have connected with the dudes and the music of Baroness in a real way and we had talked about it and yknow if it adds bonus vibe for the buyer it's at no extra charge then cool. And that's why I asked around for three weeks to people who shared meals and floors with these cats because I didn't want to seem "this toilet seat was used by Elvis" about it.

You're a good man Sonny. If I wasn't saving for a tube amp I would actually snatch this up to be honest.

Tell those guys to get back to Winnipeg and maybe we can work something out

Thanks for the bump.
When my friend started looking for a 70s p one of the first things I did was look and see if you were selling one.
How's that PJ treating you?

Like I said. Let me talk some sense into this dude.

Does he plan to do any heavy gigging with a vintage P? Sting has an army of techs for his 51. How many does he have?

You know how addicts make the best drug councilors?

Well, I'm a recovering 70's P-Bass addict. He can learn from my mistakes.
