Cool! I have a natural alder one of these, of about the same vintage. Unfortunately I hacked it up years ago, putting in EMG Js -- which didn't end up really changing the sound much.
It's fun to play, and satisfyingly basic.

Is this bass active or passive? Absent any evidence of a battery I'm assuming passive but I can't remember the specs on these.

Nice retro vibe. Pains me to say that since I graduated High School the year this bass was made. Haven't seen clear lucite volume knobs like that since my first bass...

Those Super Ferrites are passive, but are called high output. Mine's output is maybe actually more than my active Ibby SDGR. These things are phenomenal. Do an S-1 mod on it and be satisfied for life!

What's the weight on this bass? Also, how's the truss rod adjustment? Some of these basses have a tendency to have problems being able to adjust the neck enough.

Hi Eagle,
It weighs about 9 lbs. Everything is fully functional. The truss rod adjuster is a bolt, not an allen bolt like newer ones.

Buy this bass !! You will love it !

Mike

I'm familiar with the truss rod adjustment. I've had several of these basses, which is why I know about the issue. Most of the used ones I've found unfortunately do tend have this problem.

are those knobs original? I have an original 84 and the knobs are different.

I was under the impression 0200xxxx t/m 0239xxxx ........................1985 based on this link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Peavey_guitars

I am not sure if the knobs are original, but they just may be. They are the same knobs I had on my other Foundation, so it's possible...

Yes, I believe it is a 1985, but I can't change the the title of the post. Either way, it will eat a Fender for breakfast at a fraction of the price. Nothing like 26 yr old wood ! TONE for days !

This shouldn't last long, but the way basses sit here on TB lately, you never know...

Knobs are original.. I can't see them, but should have rubber bands.

----

Bump for including a case I'd never be selling... the case alone commonly sells for $75

YES, Timmy, the knobs have all THREE rubber bands.

I may reconsider this sale now. That being said, I guess I'm back at $295 shipped for the Foundation with original knobs and case... For those who waited, well....
