1986 MIJ Squier P Bass from the Quad Collection

Sign in to disble this ad
Selling my MIJ Squier Precision I bought from Quadzilla last year. SQ series serial #. It's an amazing sounding an playing P Bass, the best I've owned by far, but I really just prefer Jazz basses every time. Has some dings and some paint chips, and there are two holes directly above the pickguard for a thumb rest. The pickup is a Sadowsky (which means either a Delano or a DiMarzio), and sounds tremendous. The grain of the wood is something to behold. Currently strung with very dead nickel roundwounds, and comes packed in a very, very tattered but semi-functional gig bag.

$460 shipped east of Nebraska, $475 to the left, Lower 48 and paypal only. No trades considered. Thanks.

one more

picture, and I'd ship it in a molded hard case for an additional $15 just to cover shipping costs. Oh yeah, rosewood board...

OK, I'll ask...

Do you know the weight?

Also, this is 1-5/8 inches at the nut, correct?

I don't own a scale, but it's fairly average in weight. More than my MIJ jazz from the late 80's, about the same as my MM Sterling. It balances quite well with a 3" strap, i've not tried with anything else. String spacing at the nut is indeed 1-5/8. I don't know much about Precision neck types but it's comfortable, and very similar to the 77 P i used to own (which this bass blows away in tone and feel).

If the "SQ" neck plate is original to that bass, then it is an '83 or '84 Squier. PM sent.
Peace Bump

Hey Datsgor, thanks for the info. This is sold pending payment, alerting the buyer of this, though I don't think he'll mind an extra couple years of "vintage"....

I have one of these in black, killer bass. Why pay 3 times the $ for a USA model from the same year when you can get one of these?

Agreed, I had a Squier Jazz from this era which I sold long ago because I was young and stupid and thought "Squier" wasn't cool enough. Big mistake.
