Up for sale here folks is a 1987 Tobias 5 String in excellent condition. The bass technically would be a 1987 Classic 5 string but....this bass was built for one of Mike Tobias's employee's of the time..Richard "Obe" Oblinger and has more laminates in the neck than a regular classic and sports a Highly figured Koa body which is pretty rare for Tobias. The Fret Board also has two custom "Bass Clef" inlays at the 12th fret.

Top: Purple Heart
Neck: 7 peice - Maple, Wenge, Maple, Purple Heart, Maple, Wenge, Maple (very high flame in the neck..AWESOME!)
Finger Board: Wenge
Pickups: Original Custom Bartolini drop shoulder
Pre-Amp: Original Bartolini TCT 3 Band Pre with a original Passive Tone Control!.
Controls are: Vol/Vol, Treble, Mid, Stacked Bass and Passive Tone control. Active/Passive switch. The Passive Tone Control works in both Active and Passive Mode!!
Hardware: All original Chrome Tobias Hardware. Bridge does show oxidation signs but still does have shine to it.
The Bass plays like butter with low action..very comfy!! and the neck is perfect.
The tones you can get out of this bass are amazing..Gospel Funk to Jazz to Rock..its all there. Great slap and finger tone. Very warm, rich and clear with a tight low end!
Only flaw is a mark on the inside of the horn..not a scratch but looks like part of the Koa really.
Only reason for the sale is to help fund the Purchase of a new Ken Smith Black Tiger 5 with Vintage body style I have a line on.
